Worship
Worship is at the heart of all we do. Each Sunday, and other times during the week, we
gather to praise God, to give thanks for all our gifts, and to pray as a community. The principal
gathering is always Holy Communion, the service in which Christ is made known to us in
bread and wine offered and shared at the Holy Table.
On Sunday, we celebrate Holy Communion (also known as Holy Eucharist, or the Mass) in two services. At 8:00 a.m., we have a quieter service, with no music. The service has readings, a sermon, prayers, and Communion. At 10:30 a.m., our service is celebrated with music. There is organ or piano music, anthems, hymns, and other special music. Each service usually lasts a little less than an hour; the 8:00 service is a bit shorter than the 10:30 a.m. service.
Our worship follows The Book of Common Prayer, and many worshipers find the service to be familiar, whether they come to us as life-long Episcopalians, Roman Catholics, or other Protestant traditions. Our bulletin has all the words, so we hope to make our service friendly for first-time visitors. You may participate as much as you are comfortable, and we welcome all baptized Christians&em;regardless of denomination or age&em;to receive Communion.
We enjoy coffee, juice, and other refreshments in our Parish Hall after both services. There are always people to welcome visitors and answer questions. You are also welcome to speak with our clergy before or after the services.
