Lent 2 the Tween group visited The Elisha Project in Rumford. They were assisted by George and his wife Carrie and a wonderful team of parishioners in assembling lunches. Each Tween had a chance to design lunch bags to hold these delicious lunches, assemble and wrap sandwiches then package them along with a snack into the beautifully designed bags that were created by the Tweens as well as the Wednesday Date Night kids group. As soon as all 220 lunches were bagged and boxed into the vans, they prayed together and for each other and those that they would be serving.
Upon arriving in the city of Providence the group was greeted by Parish members of Elisha Projects affiliate church “The Hands and Feet Church” who had arrived early to shovel out a space for people to receive the lunches that had been prepared. Every Tween was handed two bagged lunches and told to give the people as many as they needed. All 220 lunches were gone in under 30 minutes. Gratitude was shown by both givers and receivers of these lunches.
And the crowds asked (John the Baptist), “What then should we do?” “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.”
