Mission > Outreach
Our Outreach Committee is always finding new ways for us to serve our neighbors. Here's a sampling of current projects:Monthly food collection
The first Sunday of each month, the parish collects food that is brought to the Rumford Food Pantry housed at the Newman Congregational Church to help feed the needy of East Providence.
Get involved by bringing food any Sunday you come to church. The month's donation will be offered during service on the first Sunday of each month. Volunteer opportunities include bringing the food from Epiphany to the Food Pantry the week after the official collection, stocking pantry shelves, shopping for additional items not provided from donations, picking up food supplies from The RI Food Bank, greeting customers.
Hymn singing at senior centers
Join us in bringing cheer and smiles to the elderly of a local senior center or nursing home. All you have to do is show up and sing. No singing ability is needed, just a passion for making people smile.
Trips to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank
Every quarter, a group from Epiphany goes to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to help. You can never tell what job we will be given but you know it's helping feed the hungry.
Helping at Grace Church meal site
We like to help the Grace Church meal site get ready to feed the homeless on a Saturday afternoon. You'll be part of a six- to eight-person team. Work begins at 2 pm and food is served at 4, followed by cleanup. Spend an afternoon serving the invisible people of our society. You won't regret the experience.
Clothing and underwear collection for the homeless
The homeless need socks and underwear year-round, things that are difficult to get. On the third Sunday of each month beginning in April, we collect these items and bring them to Crossroads, which distributes them to those in need. During the winter months, hats and gloves are added to the list. The list of items needed changes each month so watch closely. To get involved, just buy something on the list and bring it in.
