The JDP Theatre Company celebrated its new home here at the Church of the Epiphany in Rumford, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laura McNamara and Mayor Roberto DaSilva. God answered our prayers as we had been looking for a nonprofit community organization that could make use of our hall rental space.
JDP Theatre’s mission is to help our local youth in their pursuit of the arts, and we look forward to their performances and the life and joy that they bring to our Church. Attendees enjoyed a reception inside featuring cold beverages, delicious cookies and a stunning vocal performance of Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland’s “Happy Days are Here Again” by two talented members of the Theatre Company; Musical Director Andrea Vargas and Choreographer Allana Turcotte.
The Company is co-owned and operated by Judy dePerla, Jillian Gesualdi and Jessica Mayette. JDP will be using the space Monday through Saturday for its rehearsals of upcoming productions, as well as classes in theatre arts, American Sign Language, and voice lessons.
Please give a friendly and welcoming hello to our new neighbors if you see them, and be sure to catch one of their performances.
