Opening the Prayer Book
We as Anglicans understand that..."the way we pray
(together or individually) shapes the way we believe
and act." Along with the Bible and the Hymnal, the
Book of Common Prayer defines our beliefs, tradition,
and mission. Join Jennifer and Ned on all Sundays in
May at 9:15 a.m. for this Adult Forum series that
explores the Book of Common Prayer.

Dear
Friend,
This is a big weekend in the life of our community and
in the lives of six of our members who will be
confirmed or received on Saturday by our Bishop,
Geralyn Wolf. I hope you will consider supporting
them by offering your prayers and your presence at
this service. On Sunday we will welcome the newly
confirmed and received members of our church at our
8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist.
As we gather for Holy Eucharist this week we will hear
Jesus telling his disciples that they are to be a
community unlike any other group of people. He gives
them a commandment that sets them apart and that
is that they "love one another, as I have loved you."
His love for them is exemplified by sacrifice,
forgiveness, generosity and service. The
characteristics of this love are all focused on the well-
being of others, rather than on the benefits accrued by
the love giver. This is a great reminder that when we
do crazy things like spend a Saturday afternoon on
behalf of members of our community, praying for them
and, well, loving them, we do it for their sake,
regardless of how it fits into our own self interest and
schedules. It is the same on a Sunday morning. We
come together, in part, to love one another by our very
presence in this community gathered in Christ. So
take the opportunity to love one another - this
weekend at the Cathedral and at your church. Love
one another, as Jesus did - Show up in love!!
Jennifer
