Dear
friend,
As I type this, the myriad details of Holy Week
preparation are taking place all around me. There is a
group of women in our parish hall getting ready for the
children who will gather tomorrow morning for "Palm
Saturday." They are making sandwiches, getting
supplies ready for egg dying and preparing materials
for making Easter cards for our shut-ins.
The
storytellers and actors for the "passion walk" are
working on their parts. The honey, flour, oil and bowls
for baking bread for Eucharist, are waiting on the
counter top in the kitchen. Staff members are making
final edits on the pile of bulletins for the extravagant
worship we will begin on Sunday. Worship leaders
are communicating about schedules and details,
rehearsals and meals. Vestments are being cleaned,
hemmed and mended. My email inbox is filled with
questions and communications from the Vestry who
are planning an Easter Feast to follow the Great Vigil.
They've chosen an international theme for the food
and beverages, in keeping with their awareness that
God is Lord of the universe and has redeemed people
of every nation. Altar guild members have been
cleaning and polishing in the sacristy getting every
vessel and detail prepared for the worship
spaces.
It is extraordinary to consider the many details, and the
depth of loving care offered by the dozens of ministers,
all getting us ready to enter into Holy Week. I think this
preparation is something like a great prayer we are
offering, in hope and in love.
We are almost ready to enter in. There will
be more to do as the week progresses, but we trust
that God will be present and we will have all we need.
Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus' own entering in to
the first Holy Week. He entered Jerusalem for the
week that changed history and changes each one of
us. Ready or not, we follow Christ, to enter in, to
remember and to celebrate. I look forward to seeing
you and walking with you through the gates.
Jennifer

"They went to a place called Gethsemane; and he
said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray."
Mark
14:32
From the end of the Maundy Thursday Liturgy until
Noon on Good Friday you are invited to sit in prayer
and contemplation in the presence of the Blessed
Sacrament at the Altar of Repose. This act of devotion
recalls Jesus praying in the garden and his invitation
for his disciples to sit with him. If you would like to

table in the entryway. You may like to sign up in pairs
for the over night times.
