Not sure this will work trying to get thank you to epiphany, I am going to post hopefully here to you
Thank you so much!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would be so difficult to get a note off to all of you. I am so thankful for my time with you, for my friendships, for Holy Week which was indeed special and for the wonderful send off party and numerous gifts. You are in my prayers as you travel through this time before your new rector comes. I know you will welcome Jen with all the spirit and enthusiasm that you welcomed me. May your relationship with Jen be filled with the love of Christ.
As for John and I we are definitely on a journey, still a little unsure why we are here, but I am beginning to believe that it is because God has heard the voices of the people and for some unknown reason God has sent us. I am getting a better feel as to how the prophets might have felt, unsure of themselves and doing a lot of wondering. My guess is that things will be revealed in time. Certainly we see utter poverty, no refrigeration, a bit of electricity that is app to go off at any moment from a hour to most of the day and night and then it is back on. There is not even one flush toilet in the village and the roads are ditches even at the worst mud season in Vermont the roads were in better shape then the one in front of the house were we are living. The heat is oppressive along with the flies and mosquitoes. Washing is all done by hand and the sun is the dryer. The needs go on and on, yet the people are gracious and share whatever they have with us. The children are children full of laughter and light but there are the exceptions.
Both John and I have frightened a small child, John on Sunday and me today. They have never seen anyone with white skin and I guess we look like creatures from another place and of course we are.
However this ministry turns out, please know that you are big part of making it possible and both John and I are so thankful for that as are the people of Magila. Now with any luck I will get to send this today and some pictures along with it.
May the loving presence of God guide your journey and our journey. The people of Epiphany have blessed us so that we may bless others.
